Thank You LillySue....

This award was given to me by LillySue.... http://apeaceofbliss.blogspot.com/! I am a little behind on posting about it....so sorry LillySue! I am honored that you thought of me when choosing people to give this to! In LillySue's words: The requirements are to list 10 things about yourself and then pass it on to others......Here goes!

  1. I am not very good at this sort of thing!
  2. I am the youngest of 6 children and there are about 5 yrs between me and the next oldest...or would that be youngest?!
  3. I started dating my husband when I was 15 yrs old and we have been married 25 yrs! I was 25 yrs old when our first daughter was born, 27 yrs old when the second was born and 31 yrs old when the third came along. After being married about 4 1/2 yrs my mother-in-law gave me "permission" to have a baby (like I needed it, ha,ha,)!
  4. I cry everytime I hear the National Anthem and get the chills!
  5. I LOVE being at home!
  6. I don't make friends that easily! (Probably because I prefer being at home!)
  7. I LOVE SF Hazelnut Lattes'!
  8. I don't like to read "used" paperback books....weird, I know!
  9. I would love to have a PJ Day....but can't seem to let myself do that unless I am sick!
  10. I'm rarely sick!

I'm also supposed to pass this along to others. So, the following are blogs that I truly enjoy visiting everyday, if I can! I tried to make sure each were open to getting an award, so hopefully I didn't miss any "no award" signs. To these following ladies please let me know when you have posted. I would love to hear more about you! Some of you may have already received this award at some point, so I hope you don't mind getting it again! Thanks for sharing such lovely blogs....they all make my day alittle brighter!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun....

and can you guess where we're at???
That's right Steak & Shake....
or is it
Steak n' Shake?
Anyway!

(I guess it's Steak 'n Shake)

Dee & Mallory
are thinking Amanda is alittle weird
because she brought her newest shipment
of her BE makeup actually in with her
to show us! I thought she was too!
but, shhhh don't tell her that!
The two little girls at the table next to us kept
looking at her....you could tell they wanted to
see what she had going on!

Dee & Mal just sipping away waiting for our food.
Then we all went to the mall for alittle bit of
GIRL FUN!

My Pantry Re-Do....

I have seen a few of you out there in "blogland" that
have re-done your pantry's. So I took a good long look at
mine....which I have to say, I never really thought about
too much. I mean, it's just a place to put the food right?
Well, I have to admit, my pantry really needed a "makeover"
so today I thought I would....
just do it! I had this sign hanging above it already....
you know I love my signs!! But here is alittle peek at the before....

with the shelves and the food already pulled out.
Of course I had to wash out the whole space....
but you get the idea. I did alittle paint touch-up also.
But I want to possibly paint my doors a different color
so I didn't do those, yet!

Then I put in....contact paper....yes, I found some still around.
Usually it is so hard to find now. But I found this and liked it!

Here it is done....I totally LOVE it!!!
My hubby added some lighting on a couple of shelves
and I want to get some fancy containers for a few of the
items. But all in all, I think it turned out pretty nice. Now this
has been here forever and it is quite large for a built-in pantry.
The exposed pipes were there and I think it adds a touch of
nostalgia. I found some of that gripper shelf lining in a complimentary color and it looks quite nice.

Just alittle cozy corner of my home! I like the way it turned out,
maybe it will make cooking a bit more fun for me!

A Few Fun Things....

I had an early doctor appt. this morning, nothing special, just
to please the insurance people. So afterwards while I was in the
"Big City", I thought I would visit some of my favorite places.
My first stop was at the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
That's where I found these 4 beautiful brand new
~plastic still on the stems~
Hydrangea for 99 cents a piece!! Love that!

Then I moved on down the road to the famous TJ Maxx
and found this cute little plate for $2.99.
They had about 3 differentstyles, but this was my favorite and
I wanted it just for a plate stand. Then I drove on over to the only
Tuesday Morning left in this area.
I have been just "alittle" envious of all of you with Cloche's!
I know that's not good, but just being honest!!

So you know I was almost jumping for joy when I saw this....
It was $29.99 and I got it for $14.99! Thought that was good,
but I had to choose between this and two others that were a tad
larger. All had the same sort of etching on them....

which appears to be like this beautiful Fuschia. I usually get
2 of these hanging baskets every year for our porch because it
is shaded and they do best in the shade, around here at least.

Thought this cute little picture would be a good visual!
So that was about it for my day in the Big City, I treated myself
to a Strawberry Fruitista on the way home and it was delightful!

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Bargains....

I went to Wal-Mart the other day and I always go to the "clearance"
aisle first. Right in front of that aisle they had a rack with rugs,
towels and such on it. I found this 30 x 46 rug clearanced from
$29.96 to $9.50! You know I couldn't resist that bargain!

Attached to that was a coupon for a FREE years....

subscription to BH & Gardens! Now I already paid for a years
subscription $5.99, then because of Country Home being No Longer ;(
I got a Free year and now I have this coupon. So looks like I am good
for at least 3 years, right? Not bad! And the rug is one of the plushier ones!

I also got these 2 rugs, not as expensive originally and not as plush,
for $2.25 a piece!! Not bad and I have them in the same room under
matching chairs at two different areas....
so all's good! Love new rugs! Unfortunately so does my dog!

Just thought I would share my bargains,
don'tcha just love a good one! I do!
What do you all cook for St. Patrick's Day?
I do corned beef and cabbage with red potatoes,
carrots and corn muffins!

We Had A Date Night....

We don't get to do that very often anymore! So when we do, this
is one of the places we enjoy going and have a fun time while there.

It's one of those
~throw your peanuts shells on the floor ~kind of places.
But we usually try to be neat and keep them in the little basket.

It's the place my husband can unwind after a long week at work and
enjoy a Big Daddy size beer....I caught him off guard with this picture!
We both had the Patty Melt with swiss cheese and grilled onions
on rye. He had seasoned fries and I had....

5 of the BIGGEST ONION RINGS I have ever seen....
and they were so good with a seasoned dipping sauce. I had to share I couldn't eat them all! This place has some of the neatest signs and you all know I love my signs!! I think people thought we were alittle odd taking pictures....but Oh Well, we had FUN!! Some are alittle blurry, but you get the idea!

It's hard to take a picture pointed up over peoples heads
Ha, Ha, Ha

This bus sign was at the end of our booth....
so cool

And on the way out of course we had to use the....
necessary rooms! Now would you think I was weird if
you saw me taking a picture standing in the doorway of
the ladies room of this sign???

Or what if you were a man and you walked in the mens room
and saw another guy taking a picture in there....LOL, yep
my hubby played along with me and took this picture.
We both laughed and hurried out!

We enjoyed ourselves and isn't that what
a date night is all about?
How do you enjoy your date nights??
If, you can talk about them please do!!

I Went Thrifting....

and I had soooo much Fun!

Remember my little blue birdhouse waiting for a bluebird?
Well, she arrived today and she is checking out her new home!

I also found this really cute wooden, sort of, booklet
and when you open it up....

it has this adorable saying and Easter basket.
I paid $2.00!!!!

I also found this antique postcard hanging surrounded with
antiqued tin in a sagey green....also $2.00!!!!

I wanted something different to try and force a bulb to bloom for my kitchen and I found this.... for a $1.50!!!! It says it is from West Germany!

THEN....I came upon a tote full of those letters you would see,
say on a sign somewhere that can be changed. So, I took the liberty of going thru them and picking out what I wanted and hoping they would sell me just a few. They did.....for $2.00, I have a few ideas for these when I decide which to do I will show you. It was fun just to be able to take my time and roam thru this 3 story building.

Usually, I am with somebody and I feel more rushed....not today!

Letting Go....

I'd like to introduce you to my beautiful daughter Hillary!
She is in college now but, this week is home for Spring Break.
Well, she was home for Spring Break ....

until yesterday morning at about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday night at about midnight
she got a call from her roommate at college wanting to know if she would like
to go to South Carolina with her and another girl from college.
Don't think momma didn't want to put the ca putz on that idea!
My baby going to SC with other babies....I mean
they are ONLY 18 yrs old!! But, my husband told me I have to
Let Go!
How do I do that?? That's not what mom's do!
Does this mean she can make her own decisions now?
Does this mean I can't tell her what to do anymore....I mean....
give her advice anymore? And don't think I wasn't worried
about her all night long!! They made it to their destination at
1:04 a.m.
She did do as I asked, which was
"Call me as soon as you get there!"
And of course we text'd a few times in between,
thank goodness for cell phones!
Oh yeah, they plan on taking a "day trip" to Florida and
then come back on Saturday!
My hubby says this is good for her....aahhh, to be young again!!!

So, yesterday I finally got my new BH & Gardens replacement issue for the NO LONGER....Country Home magazine! I decided to enjoy it with my morning coffee and a blueberry turnover I purchased at the bakery! It is a really nice issue and I have high hopes for the issues to come. I did notice also this morning that Wal-Mart has a commercial out that starts with women looking at BH & Garden magazines. How creative to market their magazines thru the commericals for Wal-Mart! It makes me want to go there now and see what they have for my home. Maybe I will do that to take my mind off of my baby/grown-up daughter being soo far from home! I hope she enjoys her trip and makes some happy memories with her friends....

I'm just not used to letting go!!
