Has this ever happened to you?

Okay, so I got on the computer the other day and of course I checked my emails. There were like 600+ (we are really bad about deleting...but that wasn't the problem). I emailed my sister and a few people that stopped by my new blog to say Thank You! A bit later I got back on the computer....again, (this blogging is a bit addicting!), and of course checked my emails and they were all GONE!!!!! OMG, what happened...where are they? What have I done? Panic set in! So I contacted my Internet company, via on-line help and after explaining everything to someone I am sure was from another country, I am told....There's NO WAY to get any of the emails back!!

GREAT, just wonderful! So, I sign back in to check my email/empty box and there are 6 emails. New ones! Okay, good at least it's working. I answer an email, go back into the "inbox" and it says that all 6 new emails are UNAVAILABLE ....with this at the other side of the screen.

Okay, to my knowledge there were no computers in 1969! Am I right? So I called my daughter at college and told her what was going on. She got on the computer and started laughing and said, "You have got to take a picture of this...no one will ever believe you if you don't!" So there you have it! Well, I find out it is possible this took place because of me blogging. Yes, it seems that because I wanted to be able to email some of the nice bloggers out there that stopped to visit and possibly became a follower I had somehow changed the setup of our email to Outlook something or other. So, it's apparently my fault! So IF any of you kind people...did in fact...email me at all 2 days ago, I didn't get it....it was erased back in 1969!!!

It's Snowing Again....

Woke up this morning to a fresh blanket of snow. About 3 inches so far, not sure when it is supposed to end. Don't get me wrong, a fresh blanket of snow is beautiful. But where I am we are all pretty tired of it by now. Haven't had many days with sun at all. Lots of cold wind. I guess it's a good day to stay inside and enjoy one more cup of coffee!
Thanks for stopping by, hope your day is a warm and cozy one!

Semi-homemade....

I call this my cheater chili. I guess semi-homemade sounds a little better though.

First, you brown the ground chuck and add the chopped onion and green pepper. This is the semi-homemade part. I did have to chop after all!

Drain off excess.

Then you add the diced tomatoes and the chili bean mix. Shhh! It's quick!

Add enough tomato juice to your liking.

Then, BAM...., you add your spices. Mine are secret!

Now give it a good stir and heat to a boil. I let it simmer a bit to help mix all my spices.

We like a bit of grated sharp cheddar and a few corn chips with our chili.

Mmmm.... that hits the spot!

An Afternoon Treat....

Sometimes an Afternoon Treat is just what you need!

I happen to enjoy a hazelnut latte' made right here at home.

An occasional piece of biscotti makes it extra special on these cold, windy days. And if I happen to have a new favorite magazine to glance at, then my afternoon is made.

Of course, I have to have my latte' in my favorite mug. And it's a BIG one too!
How do you like to spend your quiet afternoons? Do you have a favorite mug?

It's National Pie Day~~~

Wow, I had no idea!! What a wonderful thing to celebrate. I just love a good piece of homemade pie. Mostly pumpkin, pecan, apple, rhubarb, banana cream.....okay, so most pie's. I remember my mother making pie's when I was a little girl. I would be in the kitchen, thinking I was helping her and she would let me work on rollin' out the dough. Sometimes she would even let me crimp the edges. That's how memories are made. These days it is so easy to go out and buy a pie. There are so many wonderful ~pre-made~ pies. But, we all know there's nothing like a homemade pie.

My Dining Room.......

There's something about a Dining Room! Not many homes, newer homes anyway, even have them anymore. It's an important room in the house. It's a room for family gatherings during holidays. It's a room to enjoy a good meal with friends. But most importantly, it's a room for family dinners and sharing the day with your children and your spouse. Slowing down for awhile during, what are now busy days compared to when we were all children, and catching up with those that are most important in our lives. Taking the time to set a special place at the table for your loved ones and sharing a meal, keeps families in touch with each other. So many families don't do that these days. I know for awhile, we as a growing family let this, so important time of day pass with just a quick meal at the counter in the kitchen or yes, in front of the TV. Now that we have our two oldest daughters away at college, we have gone back to the "Dining" table. Our youngest daughter has always enjoyed this ritual. For her, it was an occasion, because we didn't always use the room. Now, it is a nightly thing! Just the three of us. When we are lucky enough to have our daughters home to share a meal, the table seems complete. Hopefully, by using this important room in our home, we are making memories!

Mystery Pecan Pie.....

Mmm, I just love a nice smelling candle! To me, it makes a home...homier (if that's a word). This is a new brand to me and so far I am lovin' it. I find that if you let a candle burn until a puddle forms at the top, that is when you get the best aroma. This one makes it seem like I have been baking all day, ha. With out all the work involved. Gotta love that! Especially on these frigid cold days with negative temperatures and chilly winds. Along with a nice fire, a warm throw, a hazelnut latte and a good book! Now what more you could ask for. Enjoy your day and drop a note and let me know what your favorite candle scent is!
