One Last Thing....

I would just like to say a BIG Thank You to all of you who kept my mom and my family in your prayers and supported me thru the most difficult time of my life! Each of your warm thoughts were like a huge warm hug as I read thru them. To have such wonderful support from people I have never met before was so amazing to me and I will always be grateful!

I had always intended on being with my mom, I just had to get myself composed to do so. I was able to spend the last 2 full days by her side telling her how much I Loved her and how everything would be okay! How she did her job taking care of all of us and now it was her time to take care of herself and that we would take care of Dad and not to worry. I was there to hold her hand and stroke her brow. I was there to moisten her mouth when she became to dry. I was able to rub her worn out body with lotion and file her nails, my way of preparing her for her next phase. These were the hardest times, but times no less that I will always have with me! My sister and I would not leave her side except if another family member were there. She was not alone! I witnessed some of the most difficult times of her trying to fight right to the end. But her time was to come and as we were preparing for another long difficult night by our Mother's side tending to her needs, a peace came over her and she quietly fell asleep! I was so happy I was there and so glad I will always have that memory! She is in a better place now and she is looking down on us and telling us she's okay and that she loved us!

I know there are difficult days ahead, but I also know she is with me and I will be just fine!
You did good Mom! God has blessed you and thru that you will give us strength!

Thank you all again!
Have a blessed day!

  1. Oh, Lisa. This made me almost cry. How good of you to be with your mom right through to the end. She must have been at peace knowing that you were there and helping her gently go. You are an angel.

  2. {{{Lisa}}}This is exactly how it was for us in November with my MIL. I remember just that moment you described when mom found her peace as well. We'll all be together again in the sweet by and by. As my husband put it when his mom passed, "We've finished yet another chapter in our lives. Time to start the next." I will continue to think of you and pray for you as these days ahead will be easier in some and harder in others. We really must try to meet for tea one day Lisa. I feel we'd have much to share! Love and hugs to you. May peace be with you and yours.

  3. Oh sweetie, I'm so glad you could spend those precious days with your Mom. I remember helping to bath my Mom and help with her grooming at the end, it reminded me of Jesus washing the feet of His disciples. A treasured memory for sure. I shall continue to hold you all in my prayers as you travel these days, some filled with sadness and grief and some blessed with heartfelt memories.

  5. Lisa, what a blessing you are to me. I loved reading how lovingly you and your sisters attended your mom. As believers, we know that she is in the better place. No more struggles, only joy. Still praying for those behind who must pick up and carry on. Tucking in a gentle hug, too. Wish it could be a cup of tea and a scone as well!

I pray that you are comforted by the Lord, as you go through this bitter sweet time. It will always be a lasting memory of the way you were able to spend those last hours with your Mom, caring for her. Cherish EVERY memory, the good and the bad,...they make us who we are.
God will honor this time in your life-

  17. I was reminded today as my daughter and I were cleaning out a closet of my husbands father who had a horrible end to his life, bedridden and hooked up to a contraption just to move him from one location to another. It was my MIL who cared for him right up until the end. Then we talked about my grandmother who went home to be with God just 10 short months ago. I have her watch that my mother didn't want buried with her but she did go with a piece of jewelry that my daughter made for her.

The great memories are what keep me at peace with all the ones who have gone already.

I hope that your memories give you peace also.

    Hugs,
    Teri
