We've had this letter holder for years and I just can't bring myself to throw it away or take it to Goodwill. But I don't know what to do with it! I like the patina....but, should I do something else with it like paint it? The top slot used to say, I can barely make out: letters, the middle: bills and the bottom: misc. There is a floraly, fruity, decal sort of thing on it too, as you can see. I have it hanging in my mudroom/laundry room! What would you do if it were yours? Any ideas would be welcome!
I have one just like that that I plan on redoing when the weather gets nicer. Mine is just varnished wood.
ReplyDeleteI plan on painting mine black and distressing it just a bit.
I think that I will place dried in each slot, and stencil the name of the herbs or drieds on the front of each pocket.
I can't wait to see what you end up doing to yours!
I love the patina too. It's almost a shame ot change that.....but, I LOVE to paint things too. LOL Maybe a crackle paint finish? You could use the pockets for sunglasses and sunscreen in the sunny months and gloves in the colder. Gosh, wish I could find one of those now. I have the perfect spot in my laundry room to hang it! Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeletePaint is always a quick, effective, inexpensive fix!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tammy on using paint with the crackle effect.
ReplyDeleteSince the slots are so narrow, it is hard to imagine what else could fit in them except paper! Perhaps tiny dried floral arrangements poking out of each...
Good luck!

I might spray paint it black and put some colorful fake flowers in it.Hugs, Rhondi
ReplyDeleteI totally think you should make that a planter- put it in a sunny window...fill it with herbs and oh so cool.
ReplyDeletepaint or not...to match YOUR decor....use in bathroom with fingertip towels hung over the edge....insert heavy plastic ziplock bag to hold water..insert flower or greens stems...hang anywhere you please
ReplyDeleteGosh...I kinda like it just like it is! Sorry, I am NO help today, heehe!
