Happy....

This didn't show up quite how I would have liked....but, I'm going with it anyway!
This is a page from a book I have had for years. A Victorian book that has aomething for
each month in it and how it was celebrated in the Victorian days. I have it on my antique desk and I open it to the appropriate month as the year goes by. There are some really cute things in this book and even though I am not really "Victorian" in my decorating style anymore, I will always keep this book. Right under where it says April Fool's Day it says:
The first of April, some do say
Is set apart for All Fool's Day.
But why the people call it so,
Nor I, nor they themselves, do know.
But on this day are people sent
On purpose for pure merriment.
~Poor Robin's Almanac (1760)

  1. Good morning! I love old books and have them everywhere. Some so old they are falling apart with age. The way you have it out displayed and change as the year goes along, is wonderful! There is a lot of information in them and some has changed and some will never ever change such as April's Fool's day and it's meaning. Makes you wonder about the very first one...and who did it ..and why.
    Cute post, Lisa!

  2. Good morning. Loved the story about the book, what a great idea. By the way, the sign in my front window says "ROSES $2" and it's handmade, very neat. Hope you have a wonderful Easter, Dawn

  3. I think it's neat you keep it opened to the appropriate month. I don't get the whole April fools thing either.
