Shed Update Time....

Wow, I didn't realize that I haven't given an update on the shed
progress since May 11th.  We've come a long way since then
given the heat and humidity that we've had to deal with so
far this summer.  It has held my hubby us back!  The last thing
you want to be doing is construction work on a 100 degree day,
BUT, ....he has put in a little bit of time as he could
with the heat to get this shed done.  This week he is on vacation
and has gotten a lot done so far this week, and it is only
Wednesday!  We have been getting up between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
to get as much done as possible before the Sun comes out and heats
things up!  Then it's miserable!
I left you last at this.....

this is how it looked last post
May 11th....
Wow, he has done Alot since then!

Obviously the rest of the roof was put on....

Then he decided it needed a dormer....

it's all in the details....

Yep, there are windows....

Keep in mind, this is NOT a kit and he has no plans.....
it's all in his head!
Love him for that!

I'm sure I have a picture before this one....
but, Oh Well!
The green shingles were on the roadside marked....
~FREE~
Can't beat that!

Had to go into the neighbors yard yesterday to do
the backside.  It was Smokin' Hot....
hubby insisted on getting it done....
I looked a bit silly with my red umbrella standing on the
bottom of the ladder to make sure it didn't slide down on him....
but it kept the sun off my neck!
(notice there are no pictures of that!)

Looking sooo Good!
He has worked sooo hard today
in the sun and the heat!
It is looking so cute, ahem, Good!
I can't wait to see it done!

We Love to put up little teasers to see what it
~will look like when done~
Kinda....
So Far, So Good!
Don't~cha Think?

Ahhh....

Finally some relief from the heat!
I don't know about where your at, but here
and for most of us, it has been miserable!

But, this morning it is cool and refreshing outside
so I decided to sit out on our porch and do a little post
about what we've been up to around here.

My hubby took from the 4th until today off from work.
I think he had plans to spend alot of time working on our shed.
But, because of the heat that didn't happen....
except for a few small things when it was somewhat cool enough.
I did get one project completed after months of  nagging patiently waiting.
I'll tell you about that in just a second. But, first I want to share
something with you that I finally found!

I mentioned in an earlier post when sprucing up our porch
that I wanted to hang this sign, but hubby won't let me put a nail
in our vinyl siding....
Well, I had heard of hangers in the past, but in asking
around at different home improvement stores,
none seemed to "know" what I was talking about.
Which surprised me with all the homes that are
sided with vinyl these days!

Anyway, as determined as I can be sometimes....
I Googled and lo and behold I found them!

Why it took me so long is beside me, but
I ordered them off ebay and within 2-3 days
they were here and I got my sign
~and a few other things~
hung!

~ NO hammer or nails required~
easy peasy!

Here is a close up of one....
sorry it's blurry!
You just slip that top hookie end up under the siding
and Wa La....
ready to hang something!

Now for the project I've been excited to get done!

I had mentioned in the past about wanting to have
a trellis put up behind my swing.  You can see the
pieces waiting on the floor directly behind it.
The hubby wasn't real excited with my  plan
and in fact said it wouldn't hold the Wisteria
gone wild all over my porch column....

But I begged and yes, Nagged enough!
So I painted them a very dark hunter green
and waited a few days and finally he surprised me
and hung them!

 I. Am. In. LOVE!!!!

No matter the angle it just makes the whole porch....

 In my opinion!
(hubby admits he likes it too)
That Wisteria really has gone crazy trying to
wind itself around everything.  It wound up
and around my porch swing chain and up to the ceiling....
But, it hasn't produced a bloom yet
and we've had it about 8 years!
If you have any advice please let me know!

This is the last I posted on our shed.
As I said hubby took those days off to work on it.
He has done alot since you've seen this picture and I
will do a post about that in the next few days.
I think you'll be impressed!

Today I have to go run some errands
and have my mammogram....
I had my physical last week and complained to
my doctor that I hate having them done
because I always get called back a few weeks out
to come in for an ultrasound because they have a "concern"!
I have fibrocystic disease....of course they are going to find something!
So, the doctor said she could request they do both today
because she has the same problem and it does cause concern
when you get that call.  Wish me luck as you never know!

Can't wait to get back Home and enjoy
my porch in this cooler weather
we are thankful to have right now!

Enjoy your day and Thanks for stopping by!

Shed Update Time....

It all started with this....

A shed is definitely needed in this yard.
So that's what we're hubby is building.
From the "ground" up!

 Next came the floor...
then a wall....

(if you're reading Vee, notice the bowling gazing ball on the fence. I think you mentioned that!)

 Then we had 4 walls....
and a pitchy thing truss....

Then we had a bunch of pitchy things trusses....
and another double to go at the far end.
Notice 2 ladders?
That means I get up on one and help....
now & then!

Then we and I do mean WE....
started putting plywood up for the roof.
Me on the inside of the shed on a ladder
with him hubby on the outside....

Trying to convince me that as he shoves
a full piece of heavy plywood
(1/2" or 3/4" ....whatever it is)
(my hubby just emailed and said the plywood OSB is 7/16th's to be exact)
Up & Over the pitchy things trusses up there
that I would should be able to catch it coming
down the other side....
Right!
We are talking now....
that was on Monday night I believe!

So as you see there will be a loft type area for storage,
and a window will be where the level is,
once he finishes framing it in and cutting out the spot
for the window.

Here he will build double barn type doors....
and as you can see there are plants to move

So we are coming along....
on either side of the door you see
will be a window....
yet to be cut out.  And
more flying plywood to put up on the roof.
I am getting so excited with each step of the way.
He only has about an 1 1/2 hrs a night during the week
to work on it.  Plus we've had graduations, proms and other
commitments along with rainy weather that has
slowed us him my hubby down.
And
he still has all those
barn beams
to get to!

Thanks for stopping!

Shed building~Update....

When I left you last, about the shed that is, we had
3 walls up.  We've had several days of rain and cold
plus a busy week, so not a whole lot was done in that time.

But, on Sunday, even though the winds
were extremely strong and blustery cold,
He got out there and built wall 4
on our back deck....
across the yard from where the shed is.

At this point are you wondering, like me, how in the world
are we going to get that wall over to the shed??
Hmmm.....

On our trip down for my Dad's B-day Celebration
we stopped by an architectural salvage store
~which is really cool~
and bought 3 windows for our shed.
We are recycling them, obviously, but we got
them for cheap and only one has broken glass.

These two Hoodlums
were playing hide & seek
and Delilah just found Loosey
They're Crazy!

~Ta Da~
We basically drug (dragged), whatever,
the whole wall across the yard
to the shed....
I'm not that strong my friends!

More wood for the shed.

Then he built one roof pitch truss thing
whatever they are called.
He's saying....
Put down that camera and bring the ladder!
Does he NOT understand
blogs need pictures!
Geesh....

So I took him the ladder
and went back and grabbed my camera
~Win, Win Situation~

That will be the pitch of our shed
Now he has to build a few more....
I don't know how many though!

Also on Sunday we hauled a few more of these
beams home.  Some of these are 14 ft long
the others are 9-10 ft long and they are heavy.
Sunday night, Monday and Today....
my right hip is out!
I tend to carry all things heavy on my right side.
Apparently I used my hip for leverage....
now I am limping along, in pain!
Can you guess what these beams are going to be?
Hope it's worth it!
Thanks for stopping by!

Let's build a shed....

this far corner of our yard use to hold an old
metal shed, of sorts, that was here when we bought
our Home in 2000.
Then we had what is called
~Straight Line Winds~
almost like a tornado
and it took the old metal shed down.
Along with a few trees as well!

So we took a few plants and moved them to this corner of our
backyard, some rocks, a martin house, a bird bath....
you get the idea.  But, we needed something to add
a bit of Omph to our yard.

So we decided to build a shed.
It's the perfect spot in our yard.
The house right behind in that corner,
that yard sits higher then our yard
and they can see everything in our backyard.
So this will help block their view!

 The flooring got laid

 Some wood was hauled in
I helped...
but of course no picture!

 A few cuts were made

 A few nails were nailed

The first wall frame is up

The first pit fire was lit

 Wall 2 was framed

 Hmm, a stage....

Today, after the morning rain cleared....
wall 3 was framed....
then, energy was lost
and it was time to call it a day.
But, it is started and it will be there for another day!
Now there are plants to be moved!
What did you do this weekend?
