Pure Yumminess...

I've been thinking about my Mom alot these last few days. Tomorrow marks 5 months that she has not been with us, in the physical sense. I feel her with me quite often and I know she will always be with me in one way or another. That's how we Mom's are! She's especially with me when I have ripe banana's in my Home. She use to make it alot when I was growing up and she wrote her recipe down for me when I first married my hubby. It's a simple recipe and I will pass it down to my girls when they are ready for it also. Today started out on the very warm side. But as it turned autumn like and got at least 20 degrees cooler then when we woke at 6 a.m. and I saw those banana's sitting there waiting for me,
I knew today was the day!

So I readied my ingredients....
dry in one bowl, wet in another and
smashed banana's in yet another....

Combined them all together

I decided to make one larger loaf for my daughter who lives
away at school and a smaller one for my sister and
then one for her daughter
who I will be seeing tomorrow.
I'm sure we will shed a few tears!

The smell is so comforting....
but, nope not quite ready.

There we go, perfect peaks!
Now patience while they cool for a few minutes.

Ahhhh.....
Yum!

Of course I had to taste test....
perfect, with or without butter....
I chose butter....
What would you choose?

My Wire Tree....

I bought this cute little wire tree a few years ago. I don't even remember where, not that it matters. But, for each season, I try and find a cute way to decorate it with mini decorations. I didn't really have any fall type decorations that were mini. But, I did have a little dish of mini gourds and pumpkins, so I decided to try those. I thought it was really cute, but needed more.
That's how my brain works!
Something can be cute....but, if it can be cuter then I am going to make it happen!

See, it's cute....
but, it could be cuter!

So back in my little leaf shaped dish went the
mini gourds and pumpkins and off to
Hobby Lobby I went.

It was 1/2 off day for "realistic" looking
pumpkins, gourds and such....
gotta love that!
So, I picked out what I thought would look "cuter" on my wire tree.
I got Home and cut them off the stick and began decorating!

Love the little pumpkins, gourds and corn....
the colors are real muted (although some show a bit bright)!

Pumpkins, gourds, acorns, pine cones, leaves, Indian corn....

and a mini basket to....
Gather the Harvest!

Now is that cute or what??

This little wire tree is in our
mini little bathroom off our kitchen.
Hard to get a decent shot in such tight quarters,
but you get the idea.
I have really enjoyed decorating this year for Fall....
hope your making your Home cozy and fall like too!
Thanks for stopping by!

Another Cute Fall Find....

My hubby and I went down to celebrate his Mom's 81st birthday with her on Saturday!

Weather wise it was a bit gloomy....pouring rain to be exact. We spent awhile with his parent's and I helped her put up a window scarf she has been wanting up for awhile.

Shame on us for just getting down to do that for her!

Anyway, on the way back we stopped at a shop, not really a thrift store or an antique store, but let's call it a flea market type store. Anyway, I am really into Fall right now and have to have anything that screams pumpkins and such!

My lucky day....

I found this metal Currier & Ives Autumn scene tray.

LOVE it! And it was only $2.00!

It also brings back alot of memories for me! My Mom loved Currier & Ives and had several things, as I remember, when I was growing up. I wonder what happened to them?

I will be asking Dad next time I am down there.

My Lucky Find....

Last week there was an Estate Sale in my town. It was in a cute little 60's style ranch, maybe 70's, anyway I had always wondered about this house. Who lived there? Did anyone live there?
It always seemed to be cared for, yet you never really saw anyone around. In the winter the drive which goes up hill, would only on occasion be cleared of snow. Anyway, they were having this Estate Sale, so I of course "had to" stop. Boy the occasions you wish you had lots of money, there were great deals to be had....if only! The lady of the houses (that doesn't sound right, oh well) old wedding dress...beautiful braided rugs, of course oodles of antique furniture and linens. But what caught my eye were her dishes! I didn't get them that day, but I knew if it were meant to be, I would go back the next day and IF they were still there they would be mine....
and they were!

I brought them right Home and I had to wash them and get my Fall Table set!
I was so excited, because I have been wanting a pretty set of dishes in the Fall colors that I could set our dining room table with and leave out.
It also helps with keeping the table free of clutter!

This is the maker of the set. I looked it up and they were made in England between 1974 to 1982, I think it said. So they're not antiques, but that's ok, I wasn't looking for antique.

I also picked up a set of 8 goblets....
perfect for a mini pumpkin to sit in!

They are sherbet size....
the tea light holders are from last year Dollar General.
(I should have lit the candle!)

~This is the vegetable bowl~
Each piece has a little different fruit....
hence, Fruit Sampler!

~ The platter~

~ Sugar & creamer~

~Saucer~

~Tea Cup~

I Love the little design inside!

~Dinner plate~

~Bread plate~

~Soup bowl~
Now, I didn't get a full set. Some were missing, I assume broken! There were several pieces that had obviously been glued back together and not really usable except for display.
But, that was okay with me...
I still love them and love the muted Fall colors!
There were only:
11 Dinner plates
3 Salad plates (not shown)
5 Bread plates
7 Saucers
6 Tea cups
4 Bowls
and 8 Goblets!
Good enough for me!
Because, the day I went back to see if they were mine,
was 1/2 price day!
And I only had to pay $2.50 for the set of dishes and
$3.00 for the goblets!
It was meant to be!

I've Been Fallin'....

around my Home that is! I figure since the stores can already be putting out Christmas decorations....why shouldn't I start decorating for Fall! I mean it is, afterall, my most favorite time of year and, although it may be short lived, the temps are way cooler....Fall like even!

So up to the attic I went and down came some of my most favorite fall decor!

Like this little pumpkin plate,
and candle topper that I simply put a little wreath garland around.

This is my first fall season with my hutch I bought,
I think I am going to enjoy decorating it for the different seasons.

I got out my Debbie Mumm fall plates and my little pumpkin
salt and pepper shakers....

my garland and chunky (electric) candle,
and of course my prim stuffed candy corn....
Love it!

Now the pictures may not scream fall....
but, it is what it is and it keeps the hubs happy!
But, the mantle looks pretty good anyway, if I do say so myself!

My brother made everyone in our family a log birdhouse a few years ago
for Christmas. He meant for them to go outside....not mine, it's been on my
mantle! I like how it looks with my fall decor!

and then there's my old cupboard the hubs found.
I've been working on that too. You may notice a bit
of Halloween going on here. Yep, there are touches
here and there thru-out my Home. I have another
mantle I'm working on that is themed Halloween that I
will show you later.

So, have any of you gotten the fall decorating bug yet?
I bet you have and I can't wait to see what your doing!

Thanks for stopping by!
